Despite being unable to meet face to face because of Covid 19, the Friends of St. Monica’s Hospital have been doing all they can to help the community through these challenging times. With our financial help, Easingwold and District Community Care Association (EDCCA) has been able to extend its meals on wheels service from two days to five days a week.
We agreed to contribute to the Two Ridings Community Foundation’s Covid hardship fund where their activities fell inside our catchment area. This led to grants being approved for Easingwold Easiworks, the North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre and the COZIE youth centre.
Earlier grants made to the 1 st Easingwold Scout Group, where we funded the disability access ramp for their new hut, and the purchase of a gazebo for Easingwold Running Club will provide real benefits when these organisations return to normal activities.
In the hospital itself we have purchased and set up an iPad, thus allowing patients to communicate with relatives and friends using facetime with person to person vision as well as sound. The recently upgraded televisions are proving a boon during lockdown. Patients also tell us how much they appreciate the beautiful gardens which are maintained by the Trust.
